The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the postponement of all its qualifying tournaments to be held till 30 June in view of the rising outbreak of Corona virus. Games have either been postponed or canceled. The Tokyo Olympics, the biggest sporting event, has been postponed until 2021.
ICC event chief Chris Tetley issued a statement saying, "In view of the threat of Corona worldwide and restrictions by governments, we decide to postpone all our qualifying tournaments until the last week of June. We have taken this decision in view of the health and safety of the players, officials, staff and fans. We have to fulfill our responsibility in this moment and follow the guidelines of the authorities. Meanwhile, no decision has been taken yet about the ICC Women's World Cup qualifiers in Sri Lanka from July 3 to 19, but the situation is being monitored.
