India's fitness all-rounder Hardik Pandya will play in the DY Patil T20 cricket tournament starting here on Monday. Pandya suffered a back injury five months ago following which he underwent surgery in London. The 26-year-old all-rounder is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Mumbai Cricket Association and DY Patil Sports Academy President Dr. Vijay Patil told reporters here, "Reals 1 team will be represented by Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan and Bhubaneswar are also recovering from injury. Bhubaneshwar underwent a hernia operation while Dhawan suffered a shoulder injury during the domestic ODI against Australia last month. A total of 16 teams will compete for the title in this T20 tournament. The final will be played on March 6.
Apart from Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dubey and Sanju Samson, who represented the Indian team on the New Zealand tour, domestic cricket legend Surya Kumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi and Divyansh Saxena, who represented India in the Under 19 World Cup, were part of the BPCL team Will be Dinesh Karthik, Mandeep Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Varun Chakraborty and Ruturaj Gaikwad DY Patil will represent the A team. Kamlesh Nagerkoti, Varun Aaron and Manan Vohra will play for DY Patil B team.
