Fast bowler Ishant Sharma, included in India's Test team, will undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on February 15 and he will be able to take part in a two-Test series against New Zealand only if he passes the fitness test. The first Test will be played between India and New Zealand in Wellington from 21 February and the report of Ishant's Test will decide whether he will play in this match or not.
Ishant is part of the squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand but due to injury and undergoing rehabilitation, he is yet to join the team. If Ishant passes the fitness test, he will leave for Wellington directly and join the team. Ishant is currently in NCA and is rehabbing. He is practicing bowling there and he hopes that he will be part of the team for the Test match against New Zealand.
The Indian team management also hopes that Ishant will be a part of the team after passing the fitness test. It is noteworthy that India has recently suffered 0–3 defeat to New Zealand in the ODI series. A major reason for India's defeat was the poor bowling of the team. Captain Virat Kohli would also like Ishant to join the team as soon as possible. The team currently consists of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini as fast bowlers.
