With a superb bowling by medium-pacer Chintan Gaja (five for 19), Gujarat put Goa on 173 for the first innings and tightened their grip on the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals here on Saturday.
Gujarat had declared the first innings by scoring 602 runs for 8 wickets. Despite taking a 429-run lead in the first innings, captain Parthiv Patel did not invite Goa to follow. Gujarat also batted well in the second innings and by the end of the third day's play, they have scored 158 runs for one wicket. In this way, his total lead has been 587 runs. Priyank Panchal was out for 37, while Samit Gohel was on 70 and Bhargava Merai was on 49.
