Women’s T20 WC: Pakistan start with victory, beat West Indies by 8 wickets

With an unbeaten 38-run knock by captain Bisma Maroof, Pakistan defeated former champions West Indies by eight wickets in their opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup here on Wednesday. Diana Baig's fast bowling gave the West Indies top order two shocks. After this, West Indies scored 124 runs for seven wickets with the help of Stephanie Taylor (43) and Shemen Campbell (43).

Chasing this target, Pakistani openers Javaria Khan and Muniba Ali (25) shared 57 runs for the first wicket. After this, Captain Maroof scored an unbeaten 38 runs which helped his team win with 10 balls. Javeria Khan scored an innings of 35 runs while Nida Dar remained unbeaten with 18 runs.
